New peacock acting paralyzed

I got a new peacock and h
In the store he was laying on his side. Still eating mysis but not really moving. The store said this is what he did since they got him. But would walk a bit as well. I thought it was just stress so took a chance.
I got him home, acclimatized him and put him in the tank. Strangely enough all movement is ok other that his front appendages (smashers). They are extended and seemingly stuck like that. He seems to propel himself around but the front end seems not to work. Hard to explain I know but I am wondering if somebody has witnessed this and wondering if it will stop or will he eventually die.

He did make his way into a burrow.

If I remember correctly, this "locking" of the raps means something is wrong with the muscles and will result in the mantis removing them and having to regrow them. Just make sure to provide "soft" foods that it can eat without having to strike.

He is laying on his back now. Still moving but I am worried. How long does it take to shed the appendages?

When I got my smithii, she spent about a week laying on her back before finally taking to her pvc burrow. She shed one of her raps this last week but I never noticed it being locked-up so I'm afraid I can't answer how long it takes. I did notice that it had been several weeks since I last heard her smack anything, but that may not mean anything.
