New Picasso's

No worries. I'm glad to hear about the darkening. I didn't know that lighting has an effect on that. I currently have them ina 34g Solana with 150w MH. So they should be good. I also have a rbta for them. They have not hosted yet but hopefully soon. I'm thinking of getting another Nem. What would suggest I get?

sorry reefrf, not meaning to hijack your thread.

i think there needs to be a universal grading system for picassos since they are being sold as different grades.

maybe:
1) Grade B - maybe one side has stripes connecting or really nice misbar

2) Grade A - 2 stripes connect on BOTH sides of fish

3) Extreme marking picasso AKA snowcasso - 3 stripes connect on BOTH sides of fish or Extreme white markings over entire fish

i cant complain about donis reef. i have recieved two grade a's and both have extreme white markings on one side and are grade A on the other. very nice looking fish and nobody can compete with the price as far as im concerned. she offers a very nice product for the price. as far as ORA goes, some of the nicest picasso's ive seen were ORA fish and i believe Donis original broodstock is from ORA. they are a little bit more expensive but they darken up really nice and seem to be a little older/bigger when purchased.

again didnt mean to hijack your thread REEFRF. your picasso's are SWEET and will darken up nicely if you keep them under good light.

those are really nice i have a pair of ORA Picassos A here are some pics as a reference;

I wouldn't let the BTA host them. They've shown to delay the black coloration and even reverse it. I had an onyx pair that lost almost all black from a GBTA.

as an aside, and regardless of grade, those two will look great once the black fills in around the white areas; personally I would rather have more area for black to fill in around the white barring as it gives a more distinct coloration to the fish.

If not a BTA, what other Nems would you suggest that you feel are beautiful & work well for a 34g solana?

Update

Update

The Picasso's have finally hosted my anemone!! :pI picked up a purple LTA today & they took to it immediately! The black coloration on their bodies is really filling in quickly.

Here's some pics!!

I have seen this as well on a pair of my Onyx. All the black dissappeared and they looked like just a standard perc. I have since moved them to another tank, and they are slowly getting their black back.

Ohhh how i love clowns..... they are b but very close to a..gonna try to raise fry?? bet those two might turn out some snowcassos....
