new pickup louder than my first

I just picked up my 2nd vortech. I really like the 1st one I got. I have been using it for about 5 months.

The one I just picked up will not get quiet no matter how much I adjust the wet side. The plactic seal bushing on that side does not really fit and will not stay in place. I had to hold it in place and then put the motor against the glass so they would stick together.

What would you suggest? Thanks

Hi Mark,

So long as the clamping force holds the assembly together without it popping out you won't have any problems. Another option is to use some sand paper or a file and remove a little material from one or two of the tabs on the wet frame cover, this will allow it to sit in properly.

As for the noise, allow the pump to run overnight and see if it quiets down. Sometimes new pumps are noisy because the drive shaft needs to swell a bit under water for a good fit.
