New Pipes

I called and asked but they said no guarantee. Knowing the species is peaceful toward its own kind, I went for it. I think I got lucky. They're always together. With the bluestripe, since they said no, I just got one as two males wont tolerate eachother. I think I have a female bluestripe as males have snoutbumps and mine does not. Could be juvi though I guess.

Thanks for answering! I think if I get pipefish that I will get the yellow multibands. What size is your tank and do you think a pair would fit in a 28 gallon?

IME, YMB are the hardest to convert. Also, they get pretty
long. Mine are about 6in. I think that tank would be too small but maybe not. I would do a pair of bluestripe in that size tank.

Thinking about it more, you could be okay if there's nothing much else in there. I think a 40B would be a better minimum tank size for bandeds and multis.

It goes without saying for any pipe in a smallish tank, they've got to be eating frozen with vigor and you've got to feed religiously, the right foods and the right way. These are the most difficult group of fish I've ever tried. Of all my fish, these raise the most moral ?'s in my mind due to their difficulty. It's not something to take on at all lightly. But they are, of course, amazing, and I feel like I'm making progress.

What have yours eaten, FISHGRRL?

And, indeed, it is about the snick.

Mysis. All the flagtail pipefish I've ever owned, or had contact with (I worked in a fish store for a while) have learned to take frozen mysis fairly quickly. Hikari being better than PE because of the size. Some take cyclopeeze but they really seem to prefer bigger foodstuff. When I am transitioning to frozen, adult brine shrimp is usually preferred over bbs too.
