Nice pics and chalice Todd. What cam did you get? Here's what works for me with my point and shoot:
-Use the timer.
-Place camera lens up against the glass if you don't have a tripod.
-Use the macro mode and focus setting if you have one.
-I also turn the flash off sometimes.
-Your depth of field is really shallow. So make small adjustments.
-Take lots of pics.
-Correct white balance with picasa, photoshop or whatever your fav software might be.

Marvin,
I got a canon 1400. It's got a 2" macro setting. These are over top of my frag tank with 2-3" of water. Couldn't get such clear pics of corals in my display that were farther away

Try to use your hand and arms to steady the camera. As long as the photo is in focus you can always crop the picture. But your pics look great.

Thanks. Going to look into a tripod. Any tips on getting good pics with the blue LEDs on? Even with the actinic vhos I could t get the colors right

I think the pics are awesome, but Marvin is definately the point and shoot guy, LOL

What is the coral 3rd down? Very Nice.

Use your flash. Another trick I've done is taken something like a plastic grocery bag and used it to diffuse the flash.

What program are you using for post processing? You need to correct the white balance.

manny, that thing grows like crazy... i love it

marvin, these are all raw.. well jpeg just cropped. i was reading about using grey plastic pvc to select white balance before i snap pics. weird grey is a better white for our tanks? ill have to try it..

i just got the camera and that was the first 5 minutes. far too busy to mess with it today but maybe over the weekend.

eddy, yup thats the metor shower. the 4th one is also a cyphastrea . think its the incredible hulk? i have frags of both if your ever up this way

I find it easiest to correct the white balance using a photo editor. You can also try setting it off the sand. I think my canon is similar to that model. So feel free to call me.
