So while at the lfs picking up some bulbs I found the last fish for my reef! A very beautiful, fat potters angel! Any advice from people who have had one successfully? He's already eating frozen so that's great.

Well the fact that its eating frozen already is a really good thing. Mine was not and took 3 weeks before I was able to get it to eat frozen. I did QT mine for a 6 weeks to make sure it was fat and able to find for itself. Good luck I love mine one of my favorite fish.

My potter eats green and red seaweed with the tangs. Never saw the picky side of my potters.

i've had mine for a year. qt'd then moved him to the 180dt. He doesnt touch anyone, and so far hasnt picked on corals, HOWEVER he goes ape$__T when I tried to put a flame angel in... twice...

He eats flake/frozen/pellets and nori bits when tangs break up the sheet. Pretty hardy fish imo

I also had one in a 180 mixed reef. No issues with corals, but my clowns tried to harass it initially (angel finally asserted itself and all was well). Took it a bit to start eating prepared food, although it was always picking at the rocks & substrate. Once it started eating, it did great (until a tragic electrical issue claimed its life). It was in with an (almost) adult emperor and I had no problems. I think they are one of the most beautiful fish, and with the impending possible regulations in Hawaii they may soon be in shorter supply than they are now. Keep in mind that all fish are individuals and your experience may vary.

I think the hardest thing is to get them to eat prepared foods but it seems like you've gotten past the hard part

Best of luck with him! Consider yourself lucky if he's eating frozen food already cause that's the major hurdle with them. Normally they turn down everything you offer them.

Hmm well I have a decent lfs that I have had great luck with. I got my leopard wrasse from them also and it's doing great. I've just read issues of these angels dying randomly after a set amount of time

I have a pair of potters in a 240. They both eat frozen and even pellets. So far no problems at all for nearly a year. I've been watching them closely to see if they bother any corals. So far, so good. They are gorgeous fish, especially with some nice actinic lighting to make their blue stripes pop.

Well I really hope I'm successful with him, I think a potters angel and a leopard wrasse make an awesome combination
