Hey guys, this is my first post here at reef central.
I ran into this little guy at the LFS, thought he was a rusty from far away, and naturally I was shocked by how gorgeous of a fish he was. He looks healthy as a horse, no bite marks and no tatters at all. Im guessing the LFS had him in his own tank because he was a pricy little guy.
I was (not so surprisingly) told at my LFS that the potters angel is just like any other angel, and that I shouldn't have any issues taking care of him. He'd been in the store for 2 weeks, eating pellets as well as angel food with gusto. Naturally I saw him eat, and like the owner said, he devoured the pellets.
Of course, I got home, googled my new purchase, and read some troubling things about my new 60$ fish 0_o.
Within the first 24 hours he's killed my peppermint shrimp and scared my Mccoskars wrasse (He's fairly shy) enough that he jumped into the filter return (Luckily i found him in time to save him). So you could say he's been lively.
My real issue is that I cant seem to get straight advice (On tank size, food, aggressiveness, and compatibility) on him. All my typical sources conflict, so I thought I would bring the issue here.
I've got three different types of angel food and pellets at the moment for him, he's in a 36g with a tiny little clown and my wrasse. I've read about feeding them algae sheets, and that they almost thrive a little bit better in a slightly less than pristine environment. I've built him a little cave out of live rock down in the substrate, and he seems to like it.
Essentially what I'm asking is: is my tank big enough, what else should I feed him, and is this a lost cause, or is he really not that hard to care for.
