It sounds like the offset is way out of adjustment on the AC2. With the temperature probe unplugged the temp should read about 20.0F. Go to the second screen of the selftest display. Press the up button twice, the down button twice, and then the select button. Scroll to temperature manual cal, and adjust the offset to zero. Exit the menu and now the temperature reading should be reasonable.
