New Pumps Half Made In China ???

New Pumps Half Made In China ???
False..... other than magnets and power supplies

..... Well 1/2 of a pump is the magnets fr the motor and the powersupply in my opinion.

Yes, it is true but I want to make it clear that we buy only the magnets themselves from China, not an assembled holder. To my knowledge there are three factories in the world that make magnets for impellers, etc. Two in China, One in Siberia.
Find a power supply or magnet made somewhere else and let me know. We would be interested. FWIW that power supply used to be made in Hong Kong which has since become China. Our old AC Power Supply was made in Slovenia and that company does not make a DC power supply.

is this the case with the discontinued 6100s' as well or only with the newer models like the 6101 & 6201 ???

im only asking because i have the opportunity to purchase 4 brand new 6100's...if this is the case for all tunzes new & old...then i might as well wait for the new 6101 or 6201...

where ever it was made, the qualitity is awsome.

Foseone, I have both the 6100 and 6101, you can't go wrong with either one. The 6101 has a better mounting option though

In both cases the motors and electronics are made in Germany, the transformer for the 6000, 6100 and 6200 are from Slovenia. The transformers for the 6101 and 6201 are from China, they are actually made in Hong Kong. Every impeller magnet I know of is made in China, from your washing machine to Eheim to Tunze, I wouldn't be surprised if the same factory made them all and two brothers sell them from different companies. My understanding is the reason is two fold, ready access to magnetic ores mined in the area and it is a hazardous material that most western companies heavily restrict.

sorry guys...im just anal...dont wanna make the wrong decision...bought some new vortechs & dont even know if ill end up using them...ssooo...

I've heard such mix reviews on the Vortechs I'm scared to purchase 1 and have issues from day 1 like I've read on there forums IMO.

thats what im saying...i bought 2...still in the box...so i figure go with tunze...but then i hear this...i liked the idea that they are/were german made...???

He is saying there are only 2 parts the magnet (which I'm not sure but I don't think much can go wrong with this part other than to have it break in half) and the power supply which would concern me more than the magnets but these pumps have a reputation for lasting along time.
I mean the computer your using right now was prolly 90% made in China or Taiwan. Most of the things we use everyday was made in another country. Look at are American cars 99.99% have parts from another country or assembled in another country this is just life.

I would be very surprised if Vortech doesn't use the same China or some other country for parts.

well my concern with the vortechs is not the magnet...im sure you all have read the bad reviews already...

i think hes talking about the noise + the motor being outside. =) id go with a tunze no doubt. im tired of hearing my vortechs whine.

luckily i havent even opened the boxes...moo0o have you had to send your vortechs back or have any problems with them ???

i havent had to send them back yet....they are about..4 months new. the whining wasnt so bad at the start. maybe because they were at constant speed and they were in the back of my tank. but recently ive moved them to the sides of my tank and man...they are loud (when they are all full power). if you turn them to about half you barely hear them, but...whats the point of buying a powerful pump if you are not gonna use it to its potential?! also, one of the magnets are beginning to oxidize so im probably going to have to get that replaced later...when it looks really really bad.

see...thats what i dont want...kind of makes me wish i didnt spend the money...& then turn around & buy tunzes...oh well...

=\ sorry to hear that. there ARE good things ya know! it pushes ALOT of water. the stream of water is supposevely wider than the tunze so thats a plus! but since this is the tunze form i will shut up now. ahah
