New R0/DI unit Question

Generally from peoples experience, how many gallons does a new RO/DI need to run before it starts producing 0 TDS water? Ive ran about 20 Gal so far on my new setup (The Optima CE+, from Purely H20) I have TDS monitoring water coming from first three stages at 3ppm and out after the 2 DI filters at 6 ppm. Is this normal for the TDS level to rise after going through the DI stage for the first few gallons or so? When i first ran it it was coming out the DI stage at 50 PPM and slowly has crept down to its current level. Just checking to see if this is normal as i have naever owned a RO/DI unit before. Thanks:)

That doesn't sound right. A brand new setup like that, after the DI you should read 0. I would let it run a day or so though.

Ran over night and is now at 2 ppm. Would expect zero however since it is now also entering the two DI stages at 2 PPM. Could this just be the margin of error in the tds meter?

You have 2 coming out of the 3 stage, it then goes through the di and comes out at 2 also?

Well, that is weird, you're di isn't doing jack apparently. I don't really check mine except for after the DI and it is 0, I also use the color change resin so I can tell approximately when my tds is gonna start going back up. If the water is going through the di it has to be 0. If you have the color change resin I would look to see if it is changing color, that will tell you if the water is in fact going through the di. I'm thinking the cartridge may be placed in their wrong and the water is bypassing it.

When I replace my membrane, I get about 10-12 TDS before the DI cartridge when 'normal' is 3-5. It takes maybe 30-40ish gallons before I'm back down to 'normal' levels. The water always reads 0 out of the DI cartridge though. 75 GPD Filmtec if it matters...
