new RBTA question

Doesn't look cycled to me, your tank looks very sterile.

Obviously something is wrong since your bta is not happy, bta is very easy to keep.

The good news is most of us know how to test using scientific method to see if a tank is cycled or not, instead of eye balling using an online picture

Another good news is my RBTA has moved out from its hiding place and does not look like the one on the picture anymore.

Assuming that I just eye ball everything shows how clueless you really are.

Show me a pic of how the rbta is doing.

To you? For what? I don't need your evaluation and opinion. Don't trust it.

I know that my tank is too early to take in a BTA. Everyone knows that you need to wait at least 6 months. My circumstance was different, and no need to explain it to you.

Picture for me, no for this public forum so people can help you with your BTA. You admit to your mistake and people are concerned with its health.

We all have different circumstance that cause irrational decisions, I understand.

Not interested to hear any of your opinion. You should learn that by now. It is not a mistake and it is rational based on my circumstance.

It's doing better now. It is not hiding anymore and seems to stay on one spot instead of moving around.

Thats good to hear that means it found a location it likes. But any changes in tank conditions, flow, etc... may cause it to move.

Be sure to check your nitrates!

My nem never really move around a lot. If you nem it still moving he hasn't found a spot its comfortable with. I placed my nem high and it when straight to the bottom and hid under a rock. Then it gradually stretched from under the rock to catch the rays. If it goes under rock and hide don't worry it will be fine, just leave it to do its own thing.

Trust me these things can give you a headache, one minute it will be happy and this will go on for a while then all of a sudden it will start doing things that make you question its wellbeing.

You could always shade it and gradually introduce back into the light.

He stopped moving now, and he is not shy of the light. I think he was just acclimating to my light.

Canadianeh, what people are saying about a bta is true. It is best in an established tank. That being said, you have him so go for it [emoji1]. In the future I would read here and ask questions. You will get a thousand opinions, but you will see some commonality which is usually good advise. LFS have one goal, sell sell sell that means they don't always have your best interest at hart.

Has your RBTA locked into a spot? It is unlikely it will choose the spot you want, but you build around it. Its foot is sensitive and if it is damaged can get an infection then it will die. I would not feed it until it is stable, locked into a spot, and is reaching for light. They really will be fine without food. I very rarely feed mine. Right now the BTA is looking for the light and flow he likes.

It is locked on to the back black glass portion behind all the rock works, and on the bottom by the sand. It is not fully reaching the light but nothing block the light.

Are you happy where he is? Does he look healthy?

If he looks healthy and has for a while you might be able to try to move him.

I am not happy where he is, and will leave him where he is right now. I know my tank is too young for an BTA, and I will give him plenty of time before I try to move him at all.

He does not look bleach, close up completely at night time (I completely turn off any light at night time), and he is not fully reaching out to the light (his tentacles are all bubble right now). I think it is best to leave him where he is right now, and observe.

Sounds like a great plan. Going slow is the hardest, but the most important thing to do. I have cyano starting to grow/spread in my tank. I have reduced my feeding a little bit and my lighting a little, but I am not adding chemicals or dosing anything.
