Hello Everyone,
I am new to the forum, and really look forward to getting feedback from the community.
Recently I purchased a RO HOB 1000 for my 55 gallon marine aquarium. I will be upgrading to a bigger system soon, but for now it's what I have to work with. I purchased a bigger skimmer that I could roll over to my new system in the near future.
The only problem I have had with the skimmer is that the intake tube into the skimmer box is too long, so long that I have had to drastically lower my water level so that it can properly skim the surface. My question is, can I cut the intake tube shorter so that I can raise my water level back to normal and still allow it to skim?
I have two concerns with this idea, one that it may inhibit the skimmer from working as well as it should, and that if I cut it now, the intake will be too short when I upgrade to my bigger system. Either a 75 or 90 gallon.
Thanks for any input!
