Pacific Reef Tropical Fish located in Torrance has a very nice coral selection and sells MANY frags for $10 or less...there store is a very nice size. almost as big as tongs. They just opened up JUNE 1st, im sad to say that there livestock selection is most likely not the greatest as of yet finding many small fish suffering and/or dead in most tanks they seem to house empty glass sections with very young False Percs and about 1 in 3 seem to be dead along with a few other fish like 1 longnose butterfly and a few wrasses didnt seem to make it...spanish dancer... i have seen all this death in just 2 visits...and im positive that there have been many more prior and following that i have not witnessed...i do understand that since it is a LFS that there are going to be casualties then your average home reef considering the ammount of livestock they carrey, but IMO (which is really always, well honestly almost never, sometimes not so more then so, NOT the most educated) i think/assume they added fish too soon... so who knows what that might mean for the corals :( . im not too sure if there system has fully cycled as of yet.

It's a new store and a new system.....Fish deaths will be a lot during the first 2-3 months....I know this from experience...Seems no matter how well the system is designed and the water quality this happens. My system is finally getting to the point where I feel the fish heath is good.....Casualties are minimal now.

IYO would you think it is safe to bring ...umm...say...corals or fish home from this store? or would you think that the stress factors have already done there damage... there are a few things that have caught my eye, but all the death i have already saw stops me from leaving there with anything

IMO...I would wait until the system is at least 2-3 months and everything is at optimal...Ask them to feed the fish if you can. corals usually do better but you should always inspect for heath also. Check and see if their filtration equipment is up to par with standards but keep in mind that store tanks are only holding tanks and they won't be investing into multi-thousand dollar products. I am suprised though that you are seeing fish deaths.....Usually this is the first "Tasks" LFS's do on their list.

Torrance store

I was at the store last week. Once again like their Fountain Valley store very expensive on everything.

i didnt know they had a store in Fountain Valley...hmm... the only thing i liked about the torrance store was pretty much there frag prices since im starting to get into corals and all... the size and amounts of "fish cages" if you will, looks promising, but true prices and fish health are another thing
