ctenophors rule

these bills will keep coming, and they will continue to scare aquarist, and it is my fear that sinse noone wants to try to change things on our front, they will eventualy get the change they wont, on their front.

most of us have preached about the need for increased regulations on the way livestock is gathered, and kept in the pet stores, if you have yet to preach about it, you most likely believe it if you are on this forum. (responsible)

if that is indeed thecase, then lets show the government that we can regulate ourselves, and make our own bill.

i would write it all, but i am bussy with another, more important bill(sorry) i would love to help out as much as i can though.

so with out further adue, my current outline on what is needed.

title

section one will include a summary of the finer points of our bill (write that later)

section 2 will describe every single detail of our programme.
a minimum standard for animal collection and transport
b minimum standard for organism upkeeping
c certain organisms that can no longer be collected (should encumpass morish idol, and mandarine goby, and the such, maybe with a special permit clause.
d punishment for breaking such laws (same as breaking the animal cruelty laws with dog? just an idea)

section three: who will pay for this? we could impose an impact tax on those who still wish to wild collect (if someone could get the numbers, howmuch we spend on wild collection yearly) and maybe a retro active impact tax( not sure if it would work in this case, but their will be a tax for it) for anything live an aquarist purchases.

section 4: who will enforce the bill? ideas? customs?

if anyone wants to make suggestions please do, i am incredibly tired, and i am sure i will find a million mistakes in the out line where a lawyure would tear me to shreads, so i know their is lots of room for improve ment.

anyone want to take a section on, or even just gather information and sources, then organise them in a neat fashion, that would be great.

anyone who helps(not just comments) will be placed on the list of those who wrote the bill.

We could pay for this easily. Instead of sending billions of dollars in aid to countries that would rather see us dead, we keep the money to fund the program.

You could make commercials or short films about properly keeping these creatures and buy airtime on large networks to run them. We could have F&W expand and actually go into pet stores and levy fines for improper care. Kind of like what happends in restaraunts with health inspections. We could have free classes on the proper care and upkeep and issue cards after the classes are passed. In order to purchase an animal from the store or online you would have to show your card or enter your id number off the card.

There's endless possibilities and ideas we can come up with. Think of all the billions of dollars we give away each year. We could definitely give a lot of money to our publicly funded aquariums.

The great people of RC will think of some excellent ideas to add to this.

I'm sure someone will hate on me for this though, but I think it's a great idea.

those are good ideas, i don't know about taking aid away from those who need it.

a small impact tax could easily fund this bill, coupled with an environmental tax on every aquatic livestock sold.

thanks for the support!
