New Rock

I have an established tank that has been running for about 2yrs now. but im gettin ready to add some new rock to the tank so that way i have more room for corals and also for a new look. Im thinkin about ordering 50lbs of cured live rock. Is there any precautions that i should know about or worries... thank you

If the rock is cured and you are sure that it's cured, I wouldn't see any problems. I've added cured live rock to my tank on two different occasions and have had no problems, but I new it was cured rock.

I still checked my water parameters for any spikes though.

If it's cured, you won't have any problems.

The only other thing that might cause a problem is any unwanted hitchickers.

I'd be very hesitant to put any live rock in my tank that I hadn't personally held onto and cured *myself* for a few weeks. A big rubbermaid, a heater, and some powerheads could save you a lot of heartache from an ammonia spike nuking your display tank.

I always thought that life rock can cause a tank to go thru a "mini-cycle" because things die off on the way to your house?!?

Watch out for a mini-cycle. I could be wrong, but thats what I remember hearing about and being warned about.

theclearblue is right. Watch out for spikes!
