New Rules For Sellers/traders

I have been asked to review several old threads and to figure out what we can do to minimize any conflicts that almost always seem to arise from a member selling or trading his /her own goods on this forum EXAMPLE:

PROBLEM: "Someone is selling a coral and others are interested when all of a sudden the thread gets nasty with posts suggesting the price is to high or the coral is being misrepresented"

After careful study of the situation I bring this solution to the table:

SOLUTION:

Anyone selling or trading there goods on this forum is subject first and foremost to the RC TOS. Second, anyone selling there goods here will be given respect in his/her sales/trade thread. Potential buyers/traders may post questions regarding ONLY the items but MAY NOT POST any response containing "derogatory, misleading, or personal bias against said items or item pricing"

HOWEVER if a seller is found to be misrepresenting an item knowingly or unknowingly he/she will be contacted via PM and asked to clarify his/her information, if he/she refuses the matter will be turned over to RC moderators.

Also, in the past you have seen me step in and try to negotiate an end to a potential situation that violated the TOS, I will no longer give fair warnings to any individuals I don't have the time anymore, post what you will and remember as much as I may like I can not reinstate you to this forum if you are banned.

We believe these simple rules will help create a more friendly and fair means to further enjoy your hobby as a CVRC member and spread healthy aquacultured corals and livestock around our area.

Thank you

I agree with Ron on this one, wait a minute did I just say I agreed with Ron on something,Wow, now thats a first.

The way I see it is, if you dont like the coral or think it is overpriced dont buy it, or look elsewhere. Also by not making unneccessary comments the seller's thread will be kept clear of off topic remarks that stray the thread from its intended purpose.

I am the person that brought up this topic after seeing how Curt's thread got a little rocky a couple weeks ago. I thought we should follow the same rules in our club forum as the rest of the RC members follow on the selling forums.

Here is a list of the rules:

Yes it is rare lol and I agree when he brought this up it made me look back at other past incidents that were hurtful to the seller. I found 3 posts that had similar content and as Phil suggested a great way to counter these incidents would be to follow the RC sellers forum rules from now on. I think a dose of respect from this point on will do a world of good for all.

:eek1: :eek1: :eek1: They agreed. We are doomed!

Have a thread drift from it's subject.... We'd never have that happen around here.

It's a good idea to stick to those rules.

BTW Phil the super glue gel worked.

Mmmm yes we do agree on a few things from time to time actually but we must never let the public believe we have as much in common LOL. Either way I think this step will help greatly, it will also allow me and the council to determine who is benefiting from the CVRC? How? And who is just abusing the system so to speak. Why does it matter? Because I am always looking for potential council members to help steer this group in the right direction, that said less than 1% of the members at this time are on my list. If you are interested just look at Phil and a few other long term members who have dedicated there time, and talent to the meets and why they do so freely.

They do it because they adhere to the basic fundamentals of the CVRC: We are a group of hobbyists dedicated to the preservation of the reefs through active propagation and education of our members and anyone who wishes to learn. For sticking to that theme I thank you.

We will talk about this a bit more at the meeting though so have fun
