Hi everyone,

The other day I took a drive out to Canandaigua, NY and checked out the newest saltwater shop in the area! They've only been open a few short weeks, but the store already looks great!

Two good friends of mine teamed up and followed their dream...

Adam Dulski and Kyle Werder have started...

The Salty Dog Shop, Inc.
145 S. Main Street
Canandaigua, NY 14424

They have a 180 Display, connected to a huge Miracles look down frag tank!

A wall of tanks for inverts, another wall of tanks for fish.

A live rock tank, of course.

AND they carry all sorts of Dog food and supplies!

The Street is lined with all sorts of specialty shops, so the wives and girlfriends can stay busy as you wander the store!

But, the absolute best part of all... There are about half a dozen different bars about 30 seconds from the store! The perfect location if you ask me...

These are two very knowledgeable and helpful gentlemen, and I hope URS can join me in wishing them the best of luck!

Steve

PS: I presently live down in El Paso, Texas... URS members have no idea how lucky we are... The stores in WNY have an amazing selection compared to what's readily available down there...

And for us Rochester folks, it's a beautiful drive down there. Congratulations to the owners of this new store and best of luck to you both.

Huge congrats to them for opening the store! If I lived in Canandaigua, I would get ripped at the bars and buy up corals.

Adam is a great guy,I'm sure this place will be a thriving success..In the spring I am going out to see the place...Drop off some coral, pick up some dog food lol..

Deff gonna plan a trip to go see the new store. Like Steve said, I'm very lucky. I have 7 stores to go too that are all a hour, hour and a half or less away. Congrats guys!

Adam and Kyle have been my go to guys for ANYTHING I wanted to know about reef keeping for a few years now. There's so much information out there and it's often hard to separate the good from the bad. It's comforting, especially when you're a novice, to be able to call or stop in and talk with those guys and know you're getting good advice. From a retail standpoint, if they don't have it they'll order it for you, and if they can't get it, they'll keep looking. They're missed in Buffalo and I'm sure I'm not the only Buffalonian making the trip down the 90 to see the new store.

I have been out there twice now and the store looks great everytime. Always something new and beautiful to gawk at. The drive is a sinch and they certainly know their stuff. Adam got me into the hobby and has never steered me wrong. Kyle has a green thumb and can make any coral grow. Quality product, good prices, and plenty of advice. Cant go wrong there. Good luck guys I know I cant wait to make my next trip out.

Ps.. My skunk clowns that I got there are active, beautiful, and well worth my trip out to pick them up..

I stopped in yesterday to get some information and Kyle and Adam were really helpful. There will be a field trip for the science club at DeSales HS in the future to the shop. My students decided to tackle a 40g breeder reef tank, and I haven't kept one in a few years. I wanted to catch up on the latest and greatest technology and trends in reef keeping, and the guys at the Salty Dog were great!

Andy and Kyle are hosting students from DeSales HS's science club right now. We've set up a 40g breeder reef tank here at school. Unfortunately, I'm stuck teaching students about antibodies today, while they are learning from the guys at the Salty Dog, and picking up an Ocellaris Clownfish...

I was there a couple weeks ago and it looked just like it does in your pictures. They have some very nice frags.

Just got back from another trip to The Salty Dog Shop. It's about 1hr 40min drive each way for me but well worth the trip. I picked up an awesome pinkish orange wall hammer (still one left there BTW), a 5 head colony of Duncans, a 3 head colony of nice bright green Frogspawn, 9 head colony of Euphyllia cristata something I've never seen in Buffalo, a Queen Conch, and a fish I've long coveted, the Achilles Tang. I couldn't be happier with this Achilles and he's acclimated swimmingly to my 180g mixed reef. The only way you can get an Achilles in Buffalo is to special order one and none of the shops will acclimate it, you have to take it in the bag right off the plane. Thanks Adam and Kyle. I'll be back in May after my birthday, I'll be broke for awhile, but for now I'm lovin' my purchases.
