New Sebae Anemone!

Just got a new anemone from someone today. Acclimated it for a few hours and put it in my tank about ten minutes ago with all powerheads off until it attaches. I will get a few pictures tomorrow, but until then, here is a picture he took of it in his tank.

Ok so I'm not sure who told you to use this method, but it doesn't seem accurate to me at all.

First of all, you are aware Sebae Anemones are very hard to keep right?

Just a heads up.

Back to the introduction. Once if attaches, your going to turn the power heads back on i assume?

10 to 1 it's gonna detach again. This is because the anemone is going to look for the best place to live, where it gets the light, flow and nutrients it wants.

That means wherever it stops, is where its most happy. Then your gonna turn on the power heads again, and its gonna detach again and find a new spot.

Keep em on :)

I am aware they are harder to keep. I have had a couple before in previous tanks with good luck though

And I suppose that does make more sense! I have never had problems though, because they usually attach after a few minutes, then I turn them on as soon as it has a good grip. I don't wait until it finds a good spot, and then turn them back on, if that's what you thought I meant. :D I have never had a nem detach itself after it has planted it's foot somewhere. Sometimes they just take a short walk until they're happy

The problem is if I don't turn them off for at least a few minutes he would never stop getting blown around enough to plant his foot down. Even in the lowest flow areas of my tank, there would still be just enough flow to move him.

Edit: He attached before I was done typing this actually, and now the powerheads are back on again.

I personally would leave the powerhead off for the first 24 hours -- The stress of shipping can make it difficult for them to attach. The last thing you want is an anemone floating around your tank getting damaged.

Sure it may move after you turn the powerhead back on, but it should be attached and will move on its own, and not be floating around. I have been doing it this way for 15+ years and has worked great. The last S. haddoni I received didn't move an inch after I turned the powerheads back on -- mainly because I knew the conditions it requires and how my normal flow would affect it.

Either way, make sure that your powerheads are covered.

What lights do you have, and what lights was it under? Was it shipped or did you pick it up?

Lastly, the picture seems pretty over saturated.

I added two Clarkii Clowns today and they were both in the Sebae nem within 5 seconds of being in the tank. No exaggeration! Unfortunately, after a few hours the larger Clarkii kicked out the smaller one (hopefully not permanently!) and the smaller one has taken to one of my Haddoni Carpets.
