new set up, how to quieten?

I have just set up my aquaone minireef 120 litre and I would like some advice on how to quieten the splashing from the drain tube.
It is a standard durso type design running from a corner weir.
I do not have a problem with gurgling as some people do but I do find the splashing from the down pipe a little loud as well as the noise from the water going through the weir comb.

I have the 90 and the best I can do is put a 45 turn at end, but then can't fit filter sock, so keen to hear any suggestions too.

If you can raise the water level in the downflow box so that the fall is less and the suck-age is less, it will be quiet. You might try just putting something retrievable into that space, so you can take it out if raising the water level doesn't work.

How much flow do you have going through it? Play around with the flow of the return pump (assuming you have it valved on the output) and see if it gets quieter with more or less flow.
