SH on the go.jpg

Here are pics of two new SH I got from the LFS. They are both eating well and active. Dont know really the sex of each or the type but they are such a relaxing pair to watch.
Let me know if anyone knows the species.

I'm not sure I agree that they're H. kuda. The cornet is upright not back hanging, it has a small nose spine and low, double eye spine, which points me to H. reidi. Of course, its also 4:30 in the morning and I am suffering from a bout of insomnia, so I might be wrong.

How much did you pay for them? That may well be a better indicator of species these days. (sort of.)

Also, I noticed in the first picture that one of them has a blueish cast to its eye. It could be light, but it could be the start of a bacteria infection. And I see you have them in what appears to be a frag tank - if that is the case, keep careful eye on the temperature. Seahorses do better at cooler temperatures than reef temperatures.

reidi have a "crumpled" coronet...at least all of the speciemens that Renee and i keep or have kept do. we may be seeing some of the net-pen raised hybrids coming out of SE Asia and Sri Lanka (typically reidi x kelloggi). there are also some reidi x ingens out there as well coming out of Mexico. these SH have been "species ID stumpers" for awhile now.

thanks everyone
I will keep an eye on temp but it hasnt went above 76

I will keep an eye on their eyes but I hope it was the light.

When I turn all lights off and shine the flash light the eyes look clear but as I said I will keep an eye on them.

I really dont care if they are girls or boys but I had thought the one you ID was the male.

thanks for all the info. I purchased them from LFS they were tank raised locally. $34.00 each.

Yes I have them in a frag tank but they are going in their own 30 gal with a chiller and 10gal sump, skimmer etc...

I have made sure the temp doesnt go above 76, I have read that 74 is better that is why they are going in the tank with chiller.

I will keep an eye on the eyes and hope your wrong. They are eating twice daily, and seem to be very happy.

My understanding is they are babies, what I was told... Any more advice from anyone is welcome. I certainly do not want to do anything to cause them stress or illness.
