New Skimmer time!

I think you'll be very happy with it. Give us a review after you get it going. Did you get the 3 foot or 4 foot?

hey nanook did you try your t5000 as a single ever?,,, i have a second or 3500 and the shelf to mount it , just need to get the union fitting and the venturi and needle wheel for it… I've been debating if it is really that much better , my system is only 200 gallons. for a little under a hundred bucks i can turn mine into the dual pump.

I have not ran across very many people who run the big t5000's but it kicks the snot out of the a p851 it replaced with just the one pump.

bowed floor which life reef did you end up getting…. I'm sure you will love it, at one time i had all life reef setup sump, ca reactor, skimmer etc… now just a life reef sump. I wish i never sold the skimmer i think mine was like 4 feet high, fell into the needle wheel phase and should have stuck with tall skimmers…. post up how it does for you, I'm sure it will be solid

For only 200 gallons, I would just use one pump. Two pumps does double the air flow which pulls DOC out faster, but you still have the same flow through the skimmer. If you run lower ORP and/or PH, then the second pump introducing more air flow would help keep those numbers elevated.

Thanks, kinda what i thought, i just keep the extra or 3500 for a spare or if i ever go big on the display will add second pump. I'm running about 800 gph thru it if I'm doing the math right. it always has a baseball sized foam head and then foams up if adding food or stirring up the dsb

Just shy of 3 feet. my stand is only 38" tall and I'm going the in sump route.

Will do something resembling a review when it's here. I'm hoping it'll be here by friday.

Mines a SVS3-24 with an extension, and a mazzei venturi. Also the venturi is rated to handle Ozone, should I ever decide to go that route.

Skimmer also has a effluent port on it, so I can route my CA reactor back into the skimmer should I choose. Jeff cautioned against this because ca/alk loves to bind to acrylic.

following along. i currently run a mrc mr3r. good skimmer but have been looking at a reef dynamics INS350E. anyone have any input on these?

Good stable skimmer, the Ecoplus pumps are not the best, you can upgrade to Eheim pumps.

Too bad they don't use Laguna pumps

Also was looking at vertex 250 and orca pro 2. Similar price range. I've seen both running and look to do a great job. I prefer external so the orca would be a good fit. Not trying to hijack this thread, but have a 210 heavily stocked with sps and lps, so in the same boat.

Orca 2 . The pumps will last much longer. The only thing with their pump is that the seals need to be replace every now and then. But the motor will go for ever. Many public aquariums use these skimmers.

I have a large system consisting of anemones all tied into one main sump
I ordered the XRC 1500
Jeff spent plenty of time going over my system before recommending a skimmer
I also purchased a bio pellet reactor from him BRP 1000
