New sps frags - what do you do before putting them in your DT?

Just ordered some new frags from a reputable online source. This is my first time having frags shipped, I usually just purchase from LFS or frag swap but my DT has been up for a year and has been very stable with good growth and coloration once settled in. I am now venturing into some higher end pieces and would like some advice from some more seasoned reefers.

Just curious about what you do with new frags before putting them into your DT. I assume everyone dips them (coral Rx?) for some period of time.
How long do you dip for and is it species dependent (heard echinacea are more sensitive and should have less time in the dip)?
Do you drip acclimate your frags?
Do you QT them and if so, for how long? What set up do you use for QT? Do you skim your QT or just do frequent water changes?

Previously, I have just dipped them in diluted DT water/coral Rx with a power head running for about 4 min, rinsed them in fresh DT water and put them into a rack in the DT for a few weeks until I see them starting to encrust, then mount them on my rock. Have not had problems with this method but now that I am investing in some higher priced frags, I'm getting a little more paranoid.

Thanks for your input.

I dip in Bayer (5ml/cup) for 5 minutes. In order to prevent introducing ich, I then QT for 72 days, unless I REALLY trust the source, in which case I'll only go a couple weeks.

+1 Bayer dip and quarantine. Although I will perform the Bayer dip several times while frags are in QT. just to make sure any stragglers are dealt with.

I did not know ich could be transmitted via coral frags? You keep your frags in QT for 72 days? Why so long? does that have to do with the life cycle of the pests you are trying to eliminate?

Question about Bayer dip... is this just a Bayer asprin or is this a liquid you can purchase? How do you dilute this/what is the concentration (mg/ml)?

Thanks for your input.

Any time you introduce anything into your D.T with a drop of
water on it, you chance the risk of introducing ich.

Bayer Advanced, complete Insect Killer.

Great, thanks. Did a post search on the Bayer treatment - probably should have done that before asking about the concentration. The link said to use 10ml of the Bayer in 4oz. of tank water and leave in for 5 minutes. Does this sound right?

looks like you recommended 5ml Bayer in 250ml tank water (5ml per cup) for 5 minutes. 10ml in 4 oz. seems like too much.

No Bayer is not sure to kill ich particularly the cysts. The dosage can be varied without much change in stress on corals. Just look through previous posts and choose a common dosage level. It's been a while since I bought any new corals so I can't remember the dosage I use.

This ^^^ is correct"¦"¦ But it won't kill the eggs"¦ Look at the frag closely for eggs before treating"¦..
