new sps tank

I am starting over. I have a 150g full of sps that I am going to fill the new tank with.

I just got a 210g tank that is going to be 90% sps. Just want some input from you guys so I do it right this time.

The rock had alot of bad stuff on the rock so I dip it in acid for 40 min. then bleached for 48h. bleached the tank and then drained. and rinsed 3x.

The rock is in the tank and filled with fresh water getting ready to drain and fill with saltwater.

I have a small rock to seed it. and going to add carbon,skimmer

What else should I do? thanks

If you've had a successful 150G than a 210 should be no problem. Just switch over all your equipment and keep on doing what you've been doing.

Wait you dipped the rock in acid? lol what sort of acid?

what sort of "bad stuff" was on the rocks? Cause the bad stuff is probably caused by stuff you did so that might be something you want to change when you set up the new tank.

and why bleach? thats a bit confusing too. You should use white vinegar, a lot safer....I'd give both the rocks and the tank a bath of water and vinegar too just to be sure.. and this whole acid thing, worries me.

ok the 210 and the rock is new to me. The rock was covered in majnos and aptaisia colonial hydords sp.

I dipped them in muriatic acid 1gallon to 15gallons for 40 min. neutralize in baking soda. Then put in a trash can 44 gallon to 1 gallon bleach for 48h then rinsed 3x

the tank has saltwater in it now I have never started a new cycle have alway in the past keep taking my rock form tank to tank. I have those vermid snails everywhere and it is old rock so I wanted to start fresh this time.

Hm i've never heard of people using muriatic acid and bleach to cook rock.. there's gotta be a more safer approach to getting rid of pests.... but thats just me...

Another thing from what i understand the rock is pointless to use for a few months.. might wanna give that a read up.

From what i read, its nothing that you were doing wrong, so what exactly do you need help with? You have all the right equipment and most likely an understanding of what it does.

Im not trying to be rude or anything, but you've done this all before you should know when to add fish and corals.

if it was me i would wait a month untill i put that rock into saltwater.
than do the typical cycle, probably be a month or longer.

Just want to make sure I understand what you are doing. You took the existing rock out of your 150 and bleached it and dipped in muriatic acid and are going to move it along with the corals from the old 150 to a new 210?

I did something similar when I upgraded my tank. Another thing I would recommend with the rock is to let it sit in the sun for a good 24-48 hours.

Nothing at all wrong with what you did to the rock, but do realize you are going to be starting from scratch again.

Though your corals will have some bacteria, your "new rock will definately cycle your tank again. If you want to be safe, I would add the new rock with your seed rock and wait till it cycles again. Slowly add the sps from your old tank (probably in the order of corals you would care the least about losing over a period of time. If the first few are doing well, continue to add slowly until your new tank is restocked. I fear anything more agressive will jepordize your livestock.
