I visited Aquarium Fantasies in Montgomery over the weekend and got some information from Jim. The new location is in Homewood at 931 Oxmoor Rd.
This is close to where Broadway and Oxmoor cross. If anyone has been to his store in Montgomery, then you know the quality of items he carries. If you haven't, then you need to go. New store phone number is 205-637-5680 and he should be opening in 2 to 3 weeks. I am greatly looking forward to this as we lost so many of our stores recently.

Great to have another store to get something nice.

I wonder if anyone can take some pictures of corals in the store and post them here. It would be very helpful for some people like me who have to drive an hour or more to visit.

Dropped by on Saturday to pick up a couple of things and I have to say, the corals that are offered are beautiful. I am really looking forward to Jim getting the rest of the store set up, especially the 2 tanks near the front window. Drop by if you have not already. Parking is easier off Broadway just behind the store.

yea i saw it on the way home and from the looks of the it from the outside its gonna be a great store and i love the location. glad to know that i can get back into the hobby without driving 2hrs for some awesome corals :D

Prices are reasonable. RO water is $.50 per gallon and he tests it constantly.
Corals were $25 to $200 depending on the item. A good portion of his corals are grown "in house" so you get a very healthy specimen. He has a variety of lighting on tanks so that you can see what a piece will look like under "your" lights and most of his accessories can be seen operating in the tanks. I am with Wicked as to having a store nice and close again.

yea i was over there leaving from class to check it out an im pleased to see how everything has turned out and the guy (im sorry im really bad with names) there is nice and helpful...im definitely will be back once i get my tank back up and running.

Looked like mainly LPS, store is pretty small. It has great potential, prices seemed pretty high. I think it will get better in few weeks. I really hope this store does well.

super high prices on livestock...great deals on drygoods, like light fixtures, bulbs, powerheads, salt and the other things on the shelf, but cant believe the prices on the corals....omg

I don't agree on the "super high prices" comment. I say he is very reasonable for what you get. So much so that I would travel to Montgomery to purchase from him. I would suggest that before you decide from anyones comments, please visit the store and decide for yourself. Just my $.02

How much for an acan frag? Like a head? I know aquarium imports is $25 bucks and of course mrcoral.com is $10. How much at the new place for comparison?

Thats the thing... he has great center pieces and huge colonies which are fairly priced. But no frags. I think the only frags I saw the other day was a couple mushrooms about 1 or 2 inches each. But some very nice large pieces. So if you need to fill up a big empty spot his your guy but bring at least 100 dollars with you. :p
