New sump pump?

I just got a new (well used) 22g Lifereef sump for my tank and I am wondering if I should be upgrading my return pump. I currently have a Rio 1700 pump and 2 Koralia 3 powerheads for flow in the 75g. The overflow box is the one that came with a small, old wet/dry filter. The sump is 30x14x13. Iwaki and Blueline have been recommended but I never hear about others with these. Would love an external one someday to keep the heat down but need to watch my $ too.

Lots of used pumps on this site. The two you mention are good ones. I run a Coral Life Turbo-Sea. Quiet and (so far) reliable. I had an Iwaki die on me a few years back. No particular reason other than it was a little old.

the rio 1700 with a few feet of head would be somewhere around 600 GPH, and if you have a 1" drain size on your overflow box that should be about a perfect match of around 600 GPH, so you shouldn't need to upgrade pumps. What size is the drain on your overflow box?

The drain is about 1.5in in diameter and has blue corrugted flexible tubing down to the Amiracle filter (which is now just a sump). I can't measure exactly because this is a tank at school that I manage.

I'd go withe the QuietOne 3000 as well.
I think they were on sale at Drs.F&S.

I do believe that the Eheim's are better rated than the "QuietOnes" but I've just never used one.
I think they both run pretty cool.
