New Sun coral ( 1st NPS )

Yea, looks good. I picked one up a few weeks ago and yours looks a lot better than mine. It looks like the pink flesh starts receding exposing the skeleton when they start to starve. So yours being pink and fleshy I think is a sign of good health.

Warning!

NPS corals can be addictive. Or at least an uncontrollable desire. Or is that the same thing? Looks good, the first of many I'm sure.

Thanks all. I have found NPS to be as desirable as SPS, and I plan on getting a few more in my 180 mixed reef. This NPS forum has been a great help. In fact I was planning on getting a spider sponge from DD until I read a thread on here about how difficult they are to keep alive.

Other than daily feedings, should I be dosing anything ? Once a week I dose phytoplex and micro vert from Kent. I am thinking of starting a live phyto culture also.

If your LFS carries Rod's Food, ask them to get his Pacific Plankton product. Great food for Tubastrea and Dendrophyllia.

I will look for Rods Pacific plankton next time I'm out, thanks.

So far the past few days the polyps have come out in the afternoon with full lights on. I reward it wih a good dose of mysis/cyclopeze. Not sure if this is common but I use a plastic bottle top to help it to capture food and keep others from stealing it.

Here is a pic of it at feeding time. You can see my exquisite wrasse close by licking his chops

One tip is to get it off the sand bed as the sand can destroy the tissue and make it reseed. Nice Sun coral. You might not need to use the bottle, try feeding your fish first and then spot feed the sun.
