5 days ago I added a yellow eye tang to my 80g tank. Lights were off but it was afternoon so not totaly dark in the tank. When my Ruby head wrasse saw the tang it freaked out, tried to jump out of the tank several times... bouncing off of the glass. The wrasse then dove into the sand. I didn't see it for 2 days. When the wrasse finally poked it's head out during a feeding, it once again saw the tang and tried to jump out again then back into the sand it went. Now on day 5, I've found the wrasse in a cave to small for the tang to get in. It just stays hidden, not eating and not swimming around. The tank has 2 clowns 1 mandarin 1 ruby wrasse and the yellow eye tang. Before the tang was added the wrasse was very friendly and brave. It would hover around my hand when ever it was in the tank to try and catch pods that would scurry away when I moved corals, several times it actually picked at my arm and couldn't be shooed away.
So... any advice on how to get them to get along? Should I remove the Tang (would have to take to a friends tank)? Should I try to re-introduce one of the fish?
For now i've been squirting sinking pellets into the wrasses hideout in hopes it's eating them.
