New Tank and New Mantis!

I was at the LFS looking for parts for my newly acquired 12g Uni-Quarium, which was going to be for my G. Smithii(that has yet to come out so i can take his pic, so dont ask). What do my eyes spot at the back of the Invert cells, a G. Platysoma! I snatched him up and he is currently waiting in my sump for his new home to be setup. And if anybody in the bay area is interested, Aquarium concepts has a 3" G. Chiragra, and Atlantis has a 4" O.S.

Hopefully, your Platy will be as outgoing as mine (Glaurung).

Did you notice how much $ the chiraga and the Os were?

I am really looing for a P. cilata primarily,however.

PS:I already have both of those species.

I dont remember how much they wanted for the Chiragra, but the O.S. is $40. That's kinda high, but he was big and Beautiful.

Keeperofthefish- i scored it off craigslist for $100, they cost $250 new, made by Clear for Life. The person i bought it from tried to "retrofit" a 2x18 JBJ PC hood into it. I completely rewired it and turned the old housing into a ballast box. I also changed the bulb to 1 Actinic, 1 50-50, so its not as bright. I then changed the filter area to accomadate some LR rubble. i have a pic of the back, but cant set it up tell i get a stand that matches the rest of the furniture(bummer).

Well, unfortunatly, the G. Platysoma passed away today. When i picked him up he seemed battered and bruised, by i tried to rescue him anyway. RIP G.P.

Hrmm, today when I was switching out live rock from one tank to another, I saw this long thing come out that at first I thought it was a shrimp, it was swimming around the tank very startled trying to find a place to hide, then finally got back into the rock, but I was so curious to see what it was I shook the rock and it came out again, I saw it was a mantis and was kind of excited to see something that I had never seen before that has been in my tank for god knows how long. Never knew about the popularity it has on here and should I be worried about it being in my tank? Will it harm any of my fish, corals, other critters, etc? If anyone is interested in purchasing (if it is harmful to my fish, coral, critters, etc.) it, I would probably only be interested in the cost of shipping, unless its actually worth some :P, a trade for a frag would be nice, haha... Let me know, I will try and get some pictures of it...

I didn't get a good look at its color as I didn't have the lights on to the tank, but I know its approx. 2-3 inches. Definately a mantis shrimp though...

id be way interested in paying for shipping for it! it will kill fish and inverts (they prey mostly on inverts like snails, hermit crabs, etc etc) Ill send you a PM!

I am answering your PM's now, from the pics I have been checking out it looks like I have a Wennera Mantis, he/she is about 2-3 inches long and is very fast...
