New tank build!

Thirsty
Well, I think after a year of putting it all together I'm pretty close to throwing water. I will update as I got, last but not least the lights (Lumenmax Elite Mini's 2 /400w 20k radiums -- 4 24" VHO Atinic's). The rest is ready to go. Got the RK2 / Tunze wavebox / BRS dosers / GX4 skimmer with moded shorty protien skimmer / BRS Dual GFO Carbon Reactor. All Icecap ballasts. I had to custom build my Hoffelgurggler with 2 1/2" PVC Couplers and sleeves (try and get those sizes at HD). Here are some pics to start it off. Cheers and Happy Holidays to all.

I have to start working on the lighting in the next week. Once that is done I will post some more pics.

Oh, the dimensions are 36x36x30. I'm going to need gogo gadget arms to get in there! Good thing the canopy roof flips up as well as the doors in the front. Wish I had doors in the side, but who is complaining!

tagging along to see how you attach your lights and such. Basically the same foot print of my build, 60X36X30. Are you doing t5's with the 400watters?

VHO's. I already bought the endcaps, so I figure I will use them. I have a friend who uses VHO's and his animals pop with the MH's off, so I will try this. My other system has T5's and they just don't seem to do the same as VHO's IMO? I think the VHO's make the greens really look electric. I already did my last canopy a year or so ago so I have a pretty good idea of what I'm going to do.

That little fixture in the middle is great for nightlights and cheap. I plan on using the same one again on my new build

I might be OCD, but I like a clean look when it comes to wiring:

Next update will be installation of the ballasts, RKE 2, and the dosing pumps. I need to install some fans in the canopy and have some of those computer fans, but have had no luck with the AC/DC conversion? I bought some of those home portable phones and tried using the battery plug from the bases, but it wouldn't turn the fan on? If someone could help me on the fan trick for the AC/DC conversion that would be great. I was hoping the phone plugs would work since I only paid $2 for them at the ARC, but like I said no luck. I see converters online, but they are expensive. There has to be a cheaper option, if anyone could help me out that would be great.

I will update later this week. That was the biggest PIA, so now it becomes more fun

For night lights I plan on buying some of those LED's on Ebay that you can just stick on. I was thinking a 9 light strip on each side should be good enough.

Looking good Jonathan!!

I got my power converters at Radio Shack, you need to ask for the 12V ones, and you should be able to run two on one 12V converter

I used 12v plugs from old cell phones, discman power chords and what not. I have 3 on one power source, but aren't as strong as 2 fans on one like Leif said.

Ok, so I'm a dummy! I walked into Radio Shack and the guy looked at me and said "just plug the thing into the wall?" I was like, what??? Than I realized the stupid fans are already AC and I just need to splice a extension cord and plug them in. Opps, so tonight I will install the fans / finish the overflow / and install a fan in the stand just for safe measure. I might even get more motivated to start installing the RK2 and some ballasts? Stay tuned for more pics tonight.

Real cherry wood! The guy who did this just redid my whole kitchen too! You should see the wood work he does, it's incredible. His wood shop is huge.
