new tank, does it need to cycle

I am starting up a nano reef. It is a 6 gallon tru vu. I have 5lbs of live sand 5lbs of live rock. Half of the live rock, sand and water all came from my 220 reef tank that is cycled already. The water in the new tank all reads good, but should I expect it to cycle again or should I make it cycle again. Right now the only thing that is in it for livestock is one snail that got caught when I was getting sand out of the big tank. I am in no hurry with it so I don't mind taking the time with. What do you guys think?

Jut have a little bit of patience. If everything was moved directly from tank to tank you should be just fine. Monitor your water parameters for a week just to be on the safe side.

I agree. Just wait a week or maybe a few weeks to make sure that nothing dies. I wouldn't expect to see any ammonia with this approach. I use it myself.

I would for sure do what everyone else has said...I say it from experience.

all of my rock, sand and water come from the same place...and I still let it set and monitered it for 2 weeks.
