Hello everyone. I wanted to introduce myself, since I just cant seem to make it to one of the meetings to meet everyone. I have been in town for about 6 months now and am finally getting a chance to set up my new tank and equipment. Here is a link to my tank thread here on RC.
My new tank thread...
Things have finally just settled down enough where I can start this much anticipated dream project of mine.
Hopefully, I'll be over to Rob's shortly to order my Tonga and kick this thing off.
Oh, yea...I'll be happy to host a meeting if possible when a month comes available..I'll be sure not to miss that one...
Hope to meet everyone soon...

Looking good so far! Nice to have an entire bedroom for your fish room. I'm jealous!!! Plenty of room for add-ons and upgrades down the road :D. Do you have more pics?

If you don't mind me asking, do you instruct at a local dive shop? If so, which one?

Thanks everybody for the kind words....greatly appreciated!

ScubaTC: don't mind at all.....Since I moved here from Naples, I have not had the time yet to affiliate myself with any local dive shops...need to do so soon though as lobster season is coming fast. I specialize in private instruction with 5 or less students to keep it more effective and personal....IMHO I dont really like the mass herds of cheap dive shop, 1000 students to a class $99.00 learn to dive mega classes..blah blah blah...I guess you get my drift...would love to get my feet wet around here soon if you are looking for anyone to go diving with...

Will post some more pics tonight as it seems I have my pic hosting problem fixed....

Take it easy and if anyone wants to check out what I have going on at the house just PM me..I live just outside of OP off of Blanding......Coppergate.

Setup is coming along great Acroholic. Do you already have or had a tank? Hopefully you'll be able to come to the meetings, always looking for new members. One day I'll be finished with my setup. Waiting for the UPS man now, lol.

Thanks, I used to have a 90g reef tank years ago. I was beginning in the hobby then and learned a lot during the five years it was up and running. Everytime I learned about something new, I.E. Equipment or methods..I would have to rearrange my setup to adapt, and as you know it can be a real pain if you don't plan everything right from the start. This time around I have been planning this project for about a little over a year now, and I am just relieved to get it started.
Good luck getting your setup going, trust me, I know..I played the waiting game long enough.

60"L x 24"W x 30"H...roughly calculates to 187 g.....
I chose these dimensions when I did the spec's on the tank because I really like the look of deeper tanks, but not too deep...
I also like the aesthetics of the rock wall creations that I can get away with using a deeper tank.....

very true acro. mine is 48 x 24 x 30. I, like you, wanted the depth and height but was not allowed to go longer than 4'. Already have a 6' tank in the house, lol.

Acroholic - I'd also be interested in learning more about your setup. Lot's of reactors and canisters!

Are you planning on going with a DSB, BB or ...?

What type of skimmer are you going to run?

Will you have a hood enclosure or open top? I have a 180gal w/ 2 400watt MH in an enclosed hood. I want to expand my lighting, but am having heats probs right now. May go with some T-5s as supplements, but still considering running an exhaust up through the wall and roof.

I showed your pics to my wife because last year I was doing a few changes and adjustments to the tank with lots of monitoring while laying tile in the main areas of the house and wood flooring in the bedrooms...she thought I was crazy doing all this at the same time!

The backside of my tank (in wall) runs into our master bedroom, where everything is plumbed under the tank. I was able to convince her to let me put a 6' tall cabinet in the master bedroom to move some of the equipment into. That's my new expansion room so you can see why I am jealous of your fish room! :D

Actually I am going to run SSB with Live Sand........

What type of skimmer are you going to run?
I have a Precision Marine Bullet-2 Skimmer, Mag 18 w/ Ozone

Will you have a hood enclosure or open top?
I have a PFO Custom Hood with 3 400W MH, 2 140W VHO Super Actinics, 3 LED Moons..all Powered with Ice Cap Ballasts.
It is an open top design, Hood will be suspended from the ceiling...which I started last night and hope to finish tonight...will post pics later tonight...Also the entire hood will raise up & down via an electric motor w/ gear reduction hidden in the cross space above my ceiling. This can be operated manually via an inwall rocker switch mounted in the living room, or automatically raised and lowered via the Aquacontroller to keep temp stable without having to turn lights off in case of higher temps......

My Fish room is filling fast with equipment...I have no idea how I could possibly stuff everything I wanted under a tank.......
My girlfriend is finding out now why I wanted the entire room to do what I wanted..and she has been very supportive in the process and very interested in what is going on so far.....I think she will soon be a fellow Reefer...:D

Thanks again for your interest.......

I have more pics on my thread.....

See everyone on the 22nd...

That's one impressive setup Lee. Looks as though you've got all the bases covered. I've been watching your progress through the pics you've posted. Can't wait till after it cycles out to see how you set up the display. If it's anything like the equipment setup, that tank will probably be something to behold.
By the way, I'm one sub. up from ya (Waterview Ridge) who could ask for more, a LFS a stones throw away. Rob does do you right.
You look at all the posts here and all the local LFS's take good care of their customers.
Will probably see you at the club meeting on the 22nd at Atlantis.
Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing your dream setup.
George

Thanks George, It's refreshing to know that there are some decent LFS's here in Jax....you guys are really lucky, where I just moved from it wasnt so....

Hey Dave, I'm in the older part of Coppergate on Penzance Pkwy....

Dave,
You should get by there and check out the setup. He's got lots of primo equipment to check out. That, and another set of eyes on the setup wouldn't hurt either.
