New Tank, New Skimmer, massive foam

110g tall tank. 150 lbs of live rock, 100lbs of sand, 40g sump.

New Aquamaxx ConeS Q-2 protein skimmer.

I put the skimmer in a bucket of water with a bit of vinegar for 24 hours to help break it in and it acted normally. I then rinsed it and put it in the sump.

It won't stop foaming over. It's producing a crazy amount of foam, regardless of adjustment. Is this normal? Can I do anything to reduce the amount of foam? I would remove what's foaming over as wet skim but it's foaming way too much for me to keep up...

does the tank smell, maybe your live rock has a lot of die off, probably isnt that but i figure i ask to rule it out. i would let it go for a day let it just skim back into the tank see if it stops in 24 hours. so times epoxy, your oil from your arms can make a skimmer go crazy, if in 24 hours its not back to know then you can try raising it.

I cured the live rock in a separate container (with powerhead, and proper temp) for about a week before putting it in the tank. This was out of necessity as my rock got here before the aquarium stand. There was certainly some die off but I had hoped that most of that happened before I put it in the tank.

No epoxy used in the tank yet.

I am using Red Sea's Reef Mature program to cycle but the skimmer started going crazy before I started that...
