or you can even go with DE's. But you would need a 3rd ballast and the DE L3 reflectors. They put out as much intensity as a 400w SE bulb and you can keep the same ballasts.

I'd go with three 250s too. That simplifies maintenance. The islands isolated by sand is a good idea. They look good and keep the fast growers from over growing the slow growers.
What is the bottle next to the calcium reactor for?
If your DSB in the tank? How deep?
I see egg crate in the tank bottom shot. Is there a plenum under the sand?

WOW that is one clean setup, very very nice. I want something exactly like that for my big tank.
Only thing I can give as in advice is silicone doesn't stick to acrylic it pulls away real easy.
You would have to use some other type of adhesive from like tap plastics or go with glass from a glass shop and get some glue from the glass shop.
I would contact the tank maker and ask what could happen if u remove the braces. Since they put it there I would assume that it is for structure support and could be a cause for concern of cracking.
