Its hard to tell from a pic. You just can't drill tempered glass. Alot of times the bottom will be tempered but the back will be safe. Be careful though sometimes the whole thing will be tempered.

Hold your cell phone screen behind the glass and look through it. If its tempered, then you will see wavy lines.

I would hold off on the 30 gallon, for 50.00 you are not getting much. Alot of times you can pick up a 55 gallon with everything for 200.00. Just keep looking on CL.

he's right someone on here sold a 60 gallon for $50 the other day and it was already drilled. Oh yeah, that was me. In all honesty I would go 40 breeder. You'll be happier in the end and if you upgrade later it will make a great sump.
