new tank

I just bought a bio cube 29 coral life off of one of my good friends and I have a couple of questions about it.
First off I tested the water and everything seemed in order, currently in the tank their is one ocellaris clownfish and a watchmen goby. Their is also a large chunk of live rock and live sand as well.
Now to the question. The bio cube still has the old bio balls which I have been researching online and found out that not to many people like them, so I was wondering what type of filtration system I should replace it with and if I could just put the new filtration system in or if I would have to do it slowly, gradually taking out the bio balls, because eventually I would like to get more fish and maybe later on coral. I heard that a media basket is a good idea but I wouldn't to get someone else's opinion. Thank you ahead of time

I would gradually swap out for marine pure balls. I never used them myself. But I kind of wish I did just from info iv seen. Gluck with New tank!

You can always add more rock in place of the bio-balls. Other filtration is HOB skimmers/ fuges. How much rock and sand is in the tank?

This is what the tank looks like currently
