Ya I'm doing herbie my tank had 3 holes drilled 1 for the herbie 1 for emergency and 1 for returnmmmbacon is talking about getting the nitrogen cycle started. Feed the tank, then test for ammonia.
What drain method are you using? Herbie? If so, I see a couple things...

Ya the siphon is the one that goes to the filter roller my gate valves I have are for 3/4" and i shattered that tank damn tempered glass so this tank was predrilled with 1 inch so I just uses a ball valve but I have unions on everything so if decide to use a gate valve at a later date I canThe siphon is on the left, correct? It should terminate under the water level in the sump, but no more than about an inch.
Ideally, a gate valve would be used on the siphon instead of a ball valve, as it will be much easier to tune.
Generally nothing good can come of putting a valve on the emergency/trickle line. As long as you never touch it, other than to shut it completely during maintenance, then it's fine.
Is there anything I'm missing I finished the plumbing Friday leak tested it yesterday started putting sand and salt water in it today![]()
