New Tank

Starting a new tank and figured I share it with everyone. It's a 65 (36"x18"x24"). The light is a DIY single 250W MH with 2 T5 39W Super Actinic's(waiting for the reflectors). Probably a 20G sump/fuge with a ASM-G2 skimmer. JBJ ATO. Oceanrunner OR2500 return. I'm sure I'm forgetting some stuff so I'll post them as the build progresses. Let me know what you think. The rock is just in there to get it off the floor.

Is that a utube overflow?, I would drill a overflow for sure. The lighting looks good. I would consider the or3500 over the or2500 because of head pressure flow loss.

Thanks for the positive replies. Joe, I was going to go that route, but the bottom is tempered (big tag says” do not drill glass enclosure"). This is my first big tank and I'm learning on the fly and doing a lot of reading. I'm just glad that there's a lot of good people here to help!

i wish sometimes i drilled for an overflow.but i have a utube overflow on my tank and never had one problem with it.the only way will loose siphon if ya pull the utube out of the water.i turned my tank off hundreds of times and never lost siphon.just make sure where ever your return line come in drill a 1/8 hole just above the water line so when ya turn of the tank the water will stop draining into your sump when it hits the drilled hole on your return.

Nice looking setup Steve. If you want to drill the tank, let me know, I can give you a hand. We could probably rig something through the side.

Thanks guys. Jeff, I'm still weighing the pro's and con's of drilling vs. HOB overflow. If I decide to drill, I'll take you up on that offer.

Thanks everyone... Drilling it seems to be the way to go. I'll definitely be taking you guys up on your offers to help. What do you think about the Beans method?
