I purchased this teardrop locally a few days ago, the first day it was wide open and now the last two days it has not opened fully at all. Does this look normal, any reason for concern before it may be to late?
My parameters are all in check, 1.026sg, 79.8', 1220mg, 420 ca, and 7.9kh.

acclimation

how long did you acclimate it for and what method did you use. Its very important to aclimmate them verrry slowly

No, it doesnt look normal. What fish do you keep with it? Is it being pestered by anything?

aclimated for about 15 minutes floating in sump just to stablize the temp then 1 hour in the bucket with a slow drip, then a slow dribble for 15 minutes then placed in tank, It looked great for the first day or so, now is in the semi closed state. I did however notice a very very small snail on it in the bag, it was a fast moving bugger and didnt look anything like a pyramid. it just looked like a baby snail, darker in color, so i let it be. 2 saddle backs, hippo tang and lamars angel.

Just try to sit back and observe the tank at a distance. I'm betting that the blue hippo is picking at the mantle. Or you could take the clam and put in a separate container for 15 minutes or so and see if it opens up. If so, it is being picked at by something. May want to watch the angel as well. My blue hippo likes to bite mantles and I have seen it happen to other people also. Don't get me wrong, I know alot of people have success with blue hippos and clams but some don't. Same with lawnmower blennies. Not that you have a LMB just using that as an example.

Yea the fish were very curious when i added it swarming like sharks so i gave them an algae clip n they all backed off. I have not really seen anyone picking at it since, the other clam is perfectly normal, maybe they just dont like the new inhabitant. I just inspected the clam further to try and find that snail. Well.. I found 3, one go away but the other two I was able to siphon up. They do not really represent the pyramid shape, more less a "U" shape. What do you think?

They sure aren't the pyramid snails. They look more like pieces of rice. I didn't really see the picking going on with my blue hippo at my normal observing the tank because when I'm anywhere near the tank the fish swarm around thinking I'm going to feed them. So one day I sat as far away as possible from the tank and then witnessed the picking. Once bitten the clam will stay retracted in fear of being bitten again. The colors and patterns of your crocea and teardrop are different and maybe the tang perceives it as algae(which it is symbiotic algae BTW)and trys to graze on it. Just try the separate container and see what happens.Just a bowl big enough for the clam with tank water for 15 minutes or so(not too long or temp will drop) My blue hippo bit a nice size chunk out of my teardrop and the clam would not open fully in fear. Hippos can do major damage with their strong bites.A LFS that I frequent put about 20 tiny blue hippos in a 180g display with some beautiful maximas and they pick the crap out of them until the owner had to literally trap them all(hippos)but not before losing some beauties.
