New to clowns what to feed.

There is a chance that the fish just wasn't healthy. However, it could have been from the stress of too much flow. I believe you have far too much flow for a 30 gallon. But that's just my opinion.

The dude that died was in question anyway. I knew he might go. I am more worried about the one who tries to eat everything i give him but he spits it right back out.

I two pairs of clowns and they all only eat flake if I hold it under water first. (Its kind of cool because they also will eat the flakes right out of my fingers too)
When it comes to flake food also if it has garlic supplemented or in it that may help with their appetites.
Definitely rotate foods but got to get them/it eating first.

My ocellaris clowns favorite food is brine shrimp. I throw a little piece of frozen brine shrimp into a cup of water, let thaw and pour the murky juice down the drain without pouring the brine shrimp out of the cup. I rinse the brine shrimp off a couple of times before I feed my fish with them.

I have feed them the frozen PE Mysis and have found the mysys shrimp are too large for ocellaris to easily eat. I cut a thin slice off of a frozen PE Mysis cube and then cut the thin slice up into tiny pieces. I throw the tiny pieces into a cup of water and rinse the mysis off discarding the oily residue water off of them at least three times before I feed my fish with them(this food smells fishy too). My fish eat the mysis far better when the pieces are small.

I feed them the frozen Ocean Nutrition Formula One which I have to cut up into very small pieces when frozen, let warm up to room temperature and then they will eat that most of the time. Mine get picky about the Formula One and they will not touch it if you throw it in the tank while the food is cold.

I do feed the New Life Spectrum Thera + A 1mm size regular formula pellets and my fish like them, but each clown will only eat 1 or 2 of them at each feeding. Trying to feed them more ends up in food on the bottom of the tank.

I do not like flake foods because I notice flake is the food that puts a nasty oily residue on top of the tank water faster than any food I have ever fed, so I got away from using it long ago.
