I have a bunch that are touching, (zoa's and palys)
As far as multiplying faster I think it depends on your tank and the palys or zoa's, you really can't group all zoa's and all palys into the same catagory when talking about fast growth.
Some zoa's grow fast, and so palys grow fast. It just depends.
What may thrive and multiply in your tank, may not thrive and multiply in my tank

the only problem with putting different zoas/palys in the same area and alowing them to grow that close to each other is 1 of them usualy grows alot faster then the other and smothers them. so you may have to do some triming later on to keep this from happening. as far as cost i really dont see a difference in cost myself. the prices are crazy for either of them when you start compairing the names.
