Hello guys and girls,

I am a long time lurker on here and used to be into saltwater a few years back. After some though I have started to put together a small 20G High. At this point I don't want to put an arm and a leg into the hobby beacuse we are looking to buy our first house shortly. Here is the plan.

I am planning on ordering my live rock from liveaquaria most likely, as i have had some garbage rock from elmers in the past. I was looking at these options.

Caribbean Live Rock - http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_Display.cfm?pCatId=1669

It comes in 40 lbs and from the description I am not sure if I can fit

all of that. But its a better price.

Select Lalo Live Rock - http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_Display.cfm?pCatId=876

For the skimmer I wanted to look into something used that is a hang on. If I end up going new I was thinking that the Skilter Filter is a cheap option. - http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Produ...ein_Skimmers&ref=3969&subref=AA&N=2004+113771

When it comes to lighting I was thinking either compact fluorescent or T5's if I found some for the right price.

I am looking to pick most of this stuff up over the next few weeks so any advice or used options would be greatly appreciated.

Both look like fine rock. Sad fact, LFS rock is always garbage. I've been in hundreds of stores over the last ten years, and I can honestly say I've NEVER seen nice rock that wasn't in their displays.

As far as that skimmer... don't buy a skilter. Seriously. If you want a hang on, the CPR and AquaC Remora are both fine skimmers.

I've not had T5s yet, but I have had PCs and they suck. T5 > PC in every way except maybe initial price. Note: you CAN grow corals under PCs. I've done it, and I've seen it done. But they still suck.

For live rock I would drive to salty critter. It is a bit of a hike, but you will be happier.

As for a skimmer, you really don't need it in a nano as long as you do weekly water changes and watch the feeding. I have had 2 nano's set up for years without skimmers.

For a 20H, I'd be cautious about PC's due to the tank depth.

If you go to the Frag swap in Cleveland on 3/25- I bet Salty Critter will be there and bring good rock for you if you pre-arrange it- that way you go to the frag swap and get you rock all in one trip.

victor smalls its snowhitjolf from pittspeed if you need some rock lmk my buddy has some pieces from salty critty that he got for sale

Nice to see some local Pittspeed guys on here.

John the *****, lol, thats an awesome deal on that 24" light setup. I think I will go with that for sure.

On another note I was looking to get some high quality pictures taken of the car if your still into doing that in the spring.

Acer, I would actually like to make it out to the frag swap in Cleveland but I have prior plans for that weekend.

Snowhitejolf, nice to hear from you, it has been quite a long time. If you could have your friend send me some pics and prices that would be awesome. He can reach me @ david_albeck@hotmail.com.

Thanks again guys
