New to us 250g setup

You had it bought and paid for they should have never sold it to someone else. I hope that the person who screwed you out of the tank has bad luck moving it and setting it up. I also hope we can find out who it was and boycott that person. A DEAL IS A DEAL.

If you've got the commitment documented in writing, then mention the work "attorney" and see what kind of reaction you get.

I agree with Wayne. What comes around, goes around.

in some states , a down payment and a verbal agreement is the same as having it on paper , not sure if Ohio is one of them ,,i would contact a attorney and ask , cant hurt ,,, i would also try to see if they are moving it this weekend somehow , quick drive by ?? 30 times ,,,,,,,

some attorneys will answer a question for free one time only ,,

That really stinks! Not only is this unethical, its really a breach of contract. Unfortunately however, I think the only legal recourse is that you will be entitled to is your money back and perhaps any costs associated with the agreement. You could take them to small claims court but in the end, if they give you your money back, there probably isn't probably much more to gain.

What really bothers me is the DIRT BAG that cut Bill's legs out from under him. The older couple should have sucked it up and been happy that Bill was giving them what they were asking. If I were Bill I would be out there and see if I could change there minds maybe they have a backbone and would do the right thing.

Just got back from picking up a money order refund. They wanted to mail us a check but since they were paid cash I wasn't interested in waiting around for a check that could have been as good as their word.

Oh well.
Time to make a trip to best in pets, AT or Salty and spend a little money some place more worthy.Best in Pets really has been getting some outstanding fish lately.

Glad to hear you at least got your money back. With shady people like this, it probably could have been worse.

Sounds like a little retail therapy is in order.

Sorry to hear you got stiffed. I would of demanded cash if that is what you paid with. I have a bb gun, we could always wait and do some covert ops....;)

i would like to know who the POS was that got it out from under him ,,,if it's ever found out i will not deal with him or her ever , hope that tank crashes from the move to the POS's house...

thats good you did get your money back though, on the bright side just means you can buy bigger and better stuff :) still does suck though, if i tell someone ill sell something to them its a done deal even if someone offered me more money thats just how i am and it will come back to haunt them im sure.

You definitely will want to keep an eye on the Craigslist in surrounding areas. When I was on hunt, I saw some good deals pop up now and again in Pittsburgh, Youngstown, Toledo and Detroit that were worth the haul.

i found mine in East Lansing Mich ,,, on craigslist , and it was WELL worth the trip to get it ,,,,,

Live and learn, my friend! The almighty dollar carries a lot of sway...even for an "Honest" man. I'm not sure if a Bill of Sale would be good advice for future reference, or if we are all just victims waiting for a crime?

Didn't want to sound like such a bummer, but it really p....s me when someone gets burned like that! Seems like that happens a lot these days???

The woman is a realitor and wrote a very detailed bill of sale which, like her word, turned out to be worth less than the paper it was written on.Having done a lot of contracting work and property rehab it seems like some Lawyers and Realitors spend a great amount of time documenting every detail of an agreement and then spend even more time trying not honor the agreement. To be fair the woman grew an incredible tank and may have really had a change of heart about selling it.Hope she does keep it and continues to care for it as well in the future.

Started looking on Reef central and craigslist but don't want to buy something on the rebound from this deal that doesn't fit our need and budget. We have a diesel F350 so when the right deal comes along a road trip will not be a problem.
