Sounds like the FL rates are similiar to the IL/Chicago rates. Good to know that we are moving to a similiar price gouging!!
One thing we did up here that made an instand $50 difference in the electric bill was to replace all our light bulbs with the new compace flourescent bulbs. It took less than 2 months to make up the cost of the bulbs! I calculated that if all the lights in the house are on (with 2 kids that is a common occurance) we are using just under 1/4 the wattage!!!
For example, our main bath has two 4-bulb light fixtures. Previously there was 75-watt bulbs in each, a whopping 600 watts!! We replaced them with the 13-watt versions and now are using only 104 watts! I did put the 24 watters in at first but the room looked like a tanning booth!!
The only downside of the bulbs is that when you first turn them on they are a little dim and have to "warm up" for a few seconds. They are quiet (not that annoying buzz that older ones had) and you can't tell the difference as far as lighting color.
Just thought I would share.
We move in just under 2 weeks!!!!!!
