I just bought a great looking pair of True Perc's from LFS. I have tried to feed them everything I can think of such as Prime Flake, fozon Mysis shrimp, live Mysis. Food with garlic, Its been 4 days without eating and I'm worried.

Any Ideas anyone?

Soak their food in garlic. Mince some fresh garlic cloves, add some water, let it sit, then squeeze the juice onto the food. Let it soak for a little and try feeding them. If thats too much work just buy some Kent Garlic Extreme.

Mine were real small when I got them and I ended up shaving my frozen cubes for about a month to get them to eat.

Thanks guys, I tried live brine shrimp and they did not take to it twice on the third day. I also tried frozen mysis shrimp with two drops of garlic extreame.

They seem like they are staying in one part of the tank and not swiming around much. They look heathy, just not acting like it.

You might try a different flake and/or brand of mysis shrimp. Some Mysis I've seen appears to have alot of heads. Also if the food may have thawed and been refrozen the fish may not want it.

May also try no lights too for a few days so they have a sense of privacy. or you may have higher output lights then the LFS??

Nitrates have no effect on fish I've had them off the scale in QT and they kept eating like pigs. :eek1:

When I got my true perc's they wouldn't touch the brine or mysis so I fed them frozen rotifers. I put enough in that when they opened their mouths they got some in. I did this for probably a week and then I started adding in frozen mysis and frozen brine. Now it's been 4 weeks and they are eating more mysis and brine.

I will try the rotifers, its something I have not tried. I have some for my SPS. Thanks for the tip........

its really normal for them not to eat when they come to a new home, i would try live brines or even ask the LFS what he was feeding them and use that.

Good stuff guys, I got abit of good news, the daddy eat this morring fozon Mysis shrimp but mommy was not having it.

Carlos,

What brand or type of Cyclops should I try?

weird. My true perc started eating flakes, and frozen food within 30 minutes of getting in his new home. I am sure they will be fine though just keep trying.

Yea whooooo! Mommy finally starting eating this morning after 10 days in the tank. I think she may have been eating alittle small food items before and I just didn't see.

ReefingIt,

Don't give up, try all the suggestions on here and I think you stand a good chance. I think you are right on the wild ones are much harder to get acumated. I noticed the Mommy was tasting most food and spitting it back out like she was used to something I didn't have or offer. And I tired about everything that was posted on here.

GSMGuy,
Where can I get baby brine shrimp freshly hatched?

Oh, now that they seem to start eating, I noticed they don't sleep at night. Its been about 11 days, do you think they are still fealling out the tank for a nice spot to host?
