Roger,

Received my new Tunze Osmolator today from the UPS man... Set it up, easy... It worked for about 45 minutes and then I hear an alarm. The red "too high" light was on meaning the the unit had over filled the sump. Pulled water out of the sump, the green level light and the yellow pump light came on and started refilling the sump. This continued until the "too high" shut off engaged and shut off the pump. It is installed correctly per the instructions and I have cleaned the sensor as the trouble shooting section suggests. I purchased this to replace a JBJ unit that would periodically fail and not top off the sump. Now my brand new Osmolator continually overfills the sump....... HELP! Is this thing defective right out of the box or what?

Luke at Premium forwarded me your number and I plan to call later today to walk through some things. We will get it solved. The most likely scenario is this- the sensor has no way to differentiate between a bubble and being in air, when brand new the sensor repels water and attracts air, plastic is made from oil and to compound that the molds that make the parts have a waxy coating of a releasing agent so you basically have oil repelling water and attracting air. A hot soapy water rinse of the sensor and making sure the area where the sensor is mounted is relatively bubble free solves 90% of these problems. You can quickly determine it is bubbles if wiping your finger under the sensor shuts it off, keeping in mind the unit is programmed to pump for 10 seconds after a fill is registered. It is designed to slightly overfill to minimize the on off cycles over the day.
