CyclistMT, love the pics, good to see more with this awesome camera. if you are going to St. Thomas, I would HIGHLY recommend taking the ferry across to St. John and snorkel there. The reefs are so much better there and so many less people. I dont remember what the name is, but the bay with all of the starfish, that is the good one. Someone will be able to tell you where it is exacly. They have hundreds of 2 foot diameter star fish. From the bay snorkel back toward the road and go along the drop off on the reef. You will see some of the biggest and most beautiful fish ever. The water must be very nutrient rich because we say a school of French Angels that must have been 12-20" long each. Cinnamon bay is neat too. there are a couple reefs there worth while, and a fun place to hang out on the beach too.

Thanks DHB! We do plan on heading over to St. John too and we have an all day sail booked with two snorkeling stops. I'm hoping they'll take us to some fabulous places. Keeping my fingers crossed that no hurricanes show up between now and then! :eek1:

Here are a set of new photos with the ISO changed to 800, no more auto.

I should say I also changed the exposure comp. to 0.0 and seemed to brighten the whole photo. My first photos were set at -1.0. I think the depth of field widened also with the ISO change.

where do you mess with the ISO??? i usually set my exposure comp at 0-1.0, somewhere in that range.

Great looking photos. You have some exceptional specimens.

First I have the camera's dial at the camera icon, then press menu, then go into camera menu again pressing "ok" to do so . ISO is second down. It didn't adjust first time I tried because of being in the auto setting on the cameras dial. Have fun!

one thing with having a high iso is that you start to get grainyness....lower iso is acutally better, you will need a steady hand, tripod, i just ordered a suction type cell phone holder that i am going to try inside the tank....will post pics whenit gets in

I agree and mine look super grainy at that ISO. If you look at OCD pics, there is no grain. I suspect he meant 80 ISO. OCD please clarify as I want to get my pics looking as good as yours. While you're at it, why don't you give us the rest of your specs. White balance setting and picture detail level. Thanks.

ISO is set at 800 for the last pics I posted, I was also on the anti shake setting before but not on the last pics. The shutter speed increases with higher ISO making it much easier to capture. I know and agree that the pics will be appear grainy but from the results, I have found it much easier and I will post bigger pic to see how apparent the grainyness is. I shut off all flow in the tank but have yet to use any device for holding the camera steady.
WB is on auto, Image size 10m, Compression Fine, Shooting in super macro no flash. Hope that helps

Here is a video I took of my clownfish breeding tanks using the 1030.

The first tank you will see has been my arch enemy and for the life of me I have not been able to get the water to clear. I am going to have to transfer and drain it I think. I had it set on underwater video and it changed the white balance so the colours above water look a little funny.

First tank has about 200 clowns that are about 4 months old.
The second tank has about 100 clowns that are about 5 weeks old.
The third tank has about 100 clowns that are 4 days old
The fourth tank has 100 clowns that are 2-3 months old.

This little camera is just so fun. Thanks for the videos. It did a pretty good job adjusting focus on the fly too.

Some real nice ones in there. I can't wait to go on vacation again. The reason I purchased the camera was all the bad photos from my Hawaii vacation, I spent almost 200 bucks on bad pics, That was all the justification I needed.
