preferredphoto is the same company as broadwayphoto and their scam goes as follows: (DO NOT BUY)

they sell you the camera at a very low price, then make you call to confirm, and try to sell you memory cards and extra batteries for $150 each. if you dont buy any they send you an email later that says your camera is on backorder. after they dont send it to you for a month or two, you contact and they say they will cancel your order and refund your money if you want, but there is a 15% stocking fee.

it is up to you, but i almost did this and then found a 20 page forum with hundreds or thousands of people saying the same thing. i cant find the forum now, but i wouldn't do it. i waited for best buy to have a sale and got it for $339. the extra $50 is worth the security for me.

DONT DO IT

Great pics OCD and Dhillbiker! Nice to see the cameras still in action. Here're some i took snorkelling in the Bahamas.

A blue gorgonian. There are thousands of these in the near-shore patch reef areas. Large and small gorgonians of at least a dozen species. This blue one was especially prolific and is, I think Gorgonia ventalina.

OCD I'm no photographer but the blue issue your having is likely caused by incorrect white balance. You should have different settings you can change it to. Fool around with it and see what works best. Awesome photos BTW.

this is kinda late, but o.c.d. i ran into this article and thought of you:
White Balance and Your Aquarium

not sure if it would help or if you have solved your problem, but figured i'd post here for reference.

I also ordered mine as well can't wait till its here and i take it w/ me to vacation and bust it out in my tank. sadly my livestock isn't as nice as you guys' yet.

Beautiful shots !!! and all of those were taken with that same (make and model) camera?
Not exactly the same. Mine were taken with the Olympus Stylus 770 SW. OCD has, if I remember correctly, the Olympus Stylus 1030 SW.

These two are very similar, but the 1030 is newer and has more megapixels. I've used both side by side, and they both take great pictures, but have slightly different firmware and button layouts.

Thanks CoreyK!

Another difference between the 2 models is that the 770 has a manometer which tells you (in1.5 foot increments) how deep you dive. The newer model doesn't have this.

tang salad, i haven't received mine yet but if i remember correctly i've read that the new model has a manometer - does it not?

memorisa, I could be wrong, but I don't think the 1030 has it. I fooled around with my father's 1030 last month and didn't see one on there...but I could be wrong. :)

You could check the Olympus website to find out.

I'm another who just got this camera due to this post!!! It was exactly what we were looking for. With the 2gig card, we can take up an hour video! It's the best kid proof multi purpose camera/video indestructable piece of electronics made!!!

I've posted a couple times a vid of inside my tank and my favorite of rinsing it off in the sink!!

Here are some of my better shots.

The best tip I have so far is to set the ISO to 80 as posted here. We need to come up with an in tank tri pod. My hands are just not steady enough!

nice pics stout. i love the clam pic.

another difference in the 1030 and the 730 is the 1030 will allow you to go deeper. the 730 only goes 10 feet deep, where the 1030 goes 30 feet deep. other than that and the megapixel and some other small differences they are very similar. if you are on a big budget and cant spend the extra money, the 730 will work great for you, but i love my 1030.

Great pics Stout, and welcome to the club! I'll have to try using the manual ISO, I've only ever messed with the WB before.

D'hillbiker you're right about the depth differences. Only the 770 and the 1030 can go down to 33 feet, the others are only down to 10.

Sounds like you need an acrylic monopod or a bracket you can suction cup to the glass to provide some stability.
