Roger, thank you for the offer...let me see if I can arrange for another temporary skimmer for my tank before I try something like this. Without one, I know I would be in trouble.

As for testing against a local one, I bought it from J&L in Vancouver (5 hours away) as no local stores carry your products.

You might ask J & L, Tunze distribution in Canada is not something I am involved with, it may be that they can service it. It takes a lot of experience though to figure these things out, what I usually find in the cases is, some small issue with how things fit, too much suspended sediment or some sort of water quality issue and some minor impeller defect and all these things combine to really impede the performance so it isn't a major thing that jumps out at you from reading a manual, you have to have used a few of them.
