New Vortech

Ok I got my new Vortech pump in yesterday and am currently in the breakin period.

It started out loud but we were told to expect this, it has gotten considerably better over the past 24 hours. (running at lowest setting)

Pump is manually controllable for speed, a controller is in the works as well as a battery backup.

The pump can not be aimed but I do not see this as a limitation. We're talking extremely broad flow with this, somewhere I read the flow pattern at 3 inches from the nozzle is 108 degrees. Don't know if the last part is really true or not, gotta be careful believing everything you read on the internet ;)

Current price is $345 + shipping (somebody always ask so I'm just avoiding another post). What can I say I am a habitual earlier adopter, I also have two first year model vehicles in my garage.

So far I have picked on the "bellybutton" (as described by Ecotech) created by the manufacturering process--in fairness its hard gripe when all of them have this, just not what I expected on a pump this pricey thats all.

Also had an issue with the inside cover coming off today at lunch, we are still trying to sort this out. At this point I believe that I'm the only one to experience this.

This will replace 2 Seio 820's that have given me great service. I like the idea of getting these big powerheads out of the tank.

Lots of current, nothing like a typical powerhead. I have no experience with the Tunze.

For a size comparision use a Coke can--1/2 inside, 1/2 outside.

Nice! I'm all over it when the controller comes out. I bet they'll even get some sort of wedge adapter to give it a little bit of angle. Have you tried to put a little piece of plastic under one side just to see if it will still run yet have a small angle on it? How strong do the magnets hold it to the wall?

I am not sure you could angle it like that roy, seems most owners if they ahve a problem its with lining up the magnets and thats on a flat surface. I like these pumps from what I can see and they worked out a lot of bugs in the first couple months. Waiting on the controller as well......

No motor in the tank...I like it

that looks pretty fancy, interested on how you like it in 6 months... looks like a good design.

Check the date. He's had it for almost a year now. That's why I brought the thread back. I've wondering if he still likes it.

Does anyone else have one these in the area?
