New Wireless pumps from Jebao RW-8 & RW-15

I see some on here saying that the rw-15's are too much for a 120...but if they are controllable can't you just turn them down to a certain percentage that isn't too strong for the tank or am I missing something here? Was about to pull the trigger on 2 rw-15's for my 120 but now I am thinking 2 rw-8's. Any ideas on that? Thanks

I have a 180 gal tank and have ordered 2 RW-8s from suggestions from others who have the 15s. Yes you can dial them down but I believe the popular else mode may create havoc in your 120. My 8s should be here soon and I think they will be sufficient.

Orion is correct: the else mode does what ever it wants.

Running in flow you can dial them down. If you're going to go heavy SPS in that 120 you could probably get by with the 15s. But, you'll have to keep them very low with sand and wait for the coral to grow in to turn them up.

Awesome....lmk how they do for ya!

Well my 120 is a build in progress....Just added the LR and water about a week or so ago so it will be a while before I have huge colonies of SPS in there!

I run mine on 1 or two of the 8 power settings. I could run them higher if I wanted since I have no sand though.

I finally got my RW-15's up and running on my 72" long tank and Im as happy as I can be. I love everything about them. :bounce3: I went from 6 hydor to 2 Jebao and WOW!!! just what my tank need it. They only been running in my tank for 24hr at about 40-50% but let me tell you this. They are well worth it. Im so glad I went with this Jebao pumps. I will be writing a full review and make a video review as well.

Here in America that is illegal.

If anybody tried that here they would be sued and perhaps jailed (Definetly put out of business).

I think at one point perhaps even currently Apple computers has been in legal battles with Samsung over copying of patents and have spent billions on the legal battles for years. .....and how's the working out for them currently?

There's a lot more that goes into it rather then just yelling copy cat. The question that needs to be looked at is Tunze or Ecotech going to loose more money or less money by the cheaper competition then they would in a legal battle. How many people will buy the Jabeo's vs the Tunze that would have actually bought the Tunze. Because someone can afford a cheaper one doesn't mean that same person would actual save up and become a sale for the higher price one. Those that would be sales for the Tunze will still probably be Tunze sales because they'll want warranty support etc. So right off the bat not evey Jabeo sale would have been a Tunze.

Of those that are stolen sales how much of a profit, not total sale, but profit would have been made off each unit? In this market those profits are very low. So there would not be a very high amount of damages that would be awarded. So how much in damages would be made vs how much would be lost in legal expenses. Going to try and get an import ban would again take legal expenses and just because they got them import banned doesn't mean that would turn around and get them back those sales yet they would accrue more legal fees.

Now when I was researching my tank the EcoSmarts were pricy but the value is there. So it's tempting. But to do it right I'd need two pumps with the wireless connection so now I'm up to 540 for two MP10s. Mmmmm that's getting pretty pricy for a 29 gal tank or less. So I saw the cheaper copy cat wave makers and soon realized that were a off brand Tunze design. So I looked the the Tunze system and went not a chance in hell. The Ecotech looked to be much better designed and cheaper then even the Tunze. So there's 0% chance of me buying a Tunze product how they are priced. My choices are currently extremely nice and affordable Sicce Voyagers with a fixed alternating controller or spending the money on the EcoTech. The Jabeo knock offs were just too low quality for me given the reviews I wanted something name brand but the name brand version of the same equipment was ridiculously expensive for what you get.

What I see is a balance here. Tunze will probably go the legal route as so many do and will probably lose a lot of money on a battle that will probably not get them very far in the long run. What they should do is try to increase their profits and competitiveness by cutting the profit on each individual unit and price it in a way that more people would want to buy theirs over the competition. But as with everything else it'll be interesting to see how it all plays out.

Only thing is diffrent is the new Riptide Gyre from maxspect !
Now that's new

YES now that thing is very interesting is it not? That is something I'm very very interested in. On the demo I was looking at the direction that all the vortexes were going in tended to be in the same rotational direction of counter clockwise so the directions didn't change all that much if you looked at the balls. Then he's like now if you want during feeding time you can run the motor the other was and sweep along the bottom and up and I just through to myself here is where the paradigm shift happens. That things amazing.

Just received my 2 rw-8s today and set them up. So far they are perfect for my 180. They are kicking up the detritus as well without stirring up my sand bed. I can crank them up too without having a mess. I'm still playing with the position and settings to get them where I want.

I wish someone would post a detailed video on the controllers. That would be helpful.

RW-8's on a 180? Wow!! Lol. This pumps are incredible. I have two RW-15's in my tank and I love it. I'm only at about 50% but I'm cool with that. I'm hopeing to upgrade my tank in the future to a 220gal and I won't need to upgrade them.

I just put two of the RW-8s in a 180 as well. I can't use the two highest settings without creating a sand storm.

I am very happy with them. I haven't experienced the loss of sync that other posters have. I'll keep my fingers crossed though.

How far down do you have them from the water line?

I have mine 6 inches down from the water line and I can run them full blast without picking up any sand. I also have mine in the back corners of each side of the tank.

How do these RW pumps sink in Else mode? Is the master on and slave off or master full and slave half, etc.? I would really love a mode like NTM on Vortech. :D

Thanks.

The controllers will sync with master on and slave on. When you put the master controller to else mode it will do the same to the slave controller.

Okay, what about the speed. Are both on full blast when synced or do they do an anti-sync? Thanks.
